Quilting Challenge 2012
We have an exciting opportunity for quilters to participate in a competition at the Casterton Kelpie Muster being held on 9th and 10th June 2012. We are holding a Quilting Challenge themed around Traditional Quilting and Art / Textile Quilting. The size of the quilt is to be no bigger than 1 metre square and to be submitted to us by 21st May 2012. The theme is a Little Bit of Country. Photo Competition Captures Kelpie Magic
KEEN photographers are reminded to start snapping and get their entries ready for this year’s Australian Kelpie Muster Photo Competition 2012.
A top class field of entries heralded a very successful event last year and with some great prizes up for grabs in 2012, organisers are expecting another quality line-up of photos.
The competition continues to grow in popularity and competition organiser, Ann James said the diversity of photographs in past years has been exceptional.
“The photos give a glimpse of how the Kelpie fits into everyday life, whether at work in the yards and paddock, or at play with its owners,” Mrs James said.
“These photos show the magic of Kelpies from the playful puppies through to the faithful working companion.”
Mrs James said it was encouraging to see the high number of entries from young people, a trend she hopes continues again for this year.
This year’s photo competition has two age divisions – Open and Junior (16 Years & Under) – with four categories for the Open Division and three categories for the Junior Division;
- Kelpies at Work
- Kelpies Humorous
- Portrait
- Mounted 10" x 8" photo with Kelpie theme (Open Divison only)
Photographs entered in these categories must be 5”x7” or less and should be mounted on card for best presentation.
The fourth section is for photographs which are 10”x8” or larger with a Kelpie theme.

Mrs Breda Cash. This year's entries will be on display in the Trade Pavilion at Island Park from 9am, Sunday 10th June 2012.
Acquisitive Art Competition
The Acquisitive Art Competition will be held again this year. First prize is $2000. Artwork is to be Kelpie related in any medium (excluding Digital Photography) and an original artwork by the Artist completed in the past 12 months. Terms and Conditions are available to download.
