BUSH poetry recitals over a hearty breakfast will herald the start of the 2009 Australian Kelpie Muster on the June long weekend.
Four bush poets will entertain with a collection of humorous Kelpie-themed tales at the Poets Breakfast from 8am in Casterton’s main street.
Hosted by the Casterton Lions Club, the Poets Breakfast has proven a popular event as visitors relax and enjoy a delicious breakfast while listening to popular bush poetry.
Lions Club member, Norm Russell said poets this year will be reciting a combination of well known poetry, plus their own creations.
“We have another fantastic line-up of bush poets this year including Casterton identity, Mavis Smith, Barry Cadzow of Torquay, Peter Dowsley of Nareen and Richie Foster of Apsley,” he said.
Casterton Lions Club members will be busy cooking and selling delicious egg & bacon rolls for $3, with gourmet coffee and tea also available.
An added bonus to this year’s program is the inclusion of a blade shearing demonstration in the main street by Richie Foster following the street parade.
Breakfast and poetry gets underway at 8am at the covered site of Hillier’s Garage.
