The Festival
With festival events such as the Poets Breakfast, Iron Kelpie Hill Climb, Stockman’s Challenge, Kelpie Triathlon and the Novelty Events such as the hilarious Mutton Mayhem- audiences are kept entertained and amused all weekend.
But one of the most famous events is undoubtedly the Kelpie High Jump and hundreds of people crammed into the make shift arena to catch a glimpse of the ever increasingly popluar event. The hour long event is insanely dramatic; a spectacle that has the audience holding its breath one moment and exploding into cheers the next.
The obstacle to clear is a barrier of wooden boards, one that is steadily raised. It’s effectively akin to the tail of a flatbed truck and owners are allowed to stand on bales behind the barrier and encourage their dogs to jump up and join them. With the fence starting at a little less than 1.5m, the height of a chest of draws proves no match for the entrants. But at the end of the competition the height practically doubles, with this year Kelpies endeavoring to beat the 2007 World-Record of an astonishing 2.91m but to no avail but with results resting on a height of 2.56 in 2011.

Kelpie Muster Raffle Tickets will be available again from April 2012. We thank our sponsors for 2011 Raffle - Sharp Airlines, Holiday Inn, Phil Pullen and Co and Casterton Pharmacy. The raffle will be drawn at the Working Dog Auction held on the Sunday.
We have the Kelpie Hall of Fame, and we are looking for more contenders to add to the list. The Hall of Fame has been designed to grant any dog (not the owner) that has won any single event three times hall of fame status.
Once entered into the Hall of Fame, their mark has been set and they will not be permitted to compete in that event.
